i2S supported “Os Seguros em Portugal” conference
On 10 May, the Montes Claros spot (in Lisbon) was the meeting point for the Portuguese insurance sector. Some 180 people attended a debate offered by a panel of prestigious speakers, with particular emphasis on the presence of Gabriel Bernardino [Chairman of the European Insurance and occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA)] and José Galamba de Oliveira [President of the Associação Portuguesa de Seguradores (APS)].
During a full morning of knowledge-sharing regarding the insurance business, the discussion addressed themes such as digital transformation, cybersecurity, the implementation of the IFRS 17 standard and the sharing economy and new insurance distribution methods. Climatic changes and the resulting challenges was another of the themes addressed, especially in the intervention of Gabriel Bernardino: “All forecasts for global warming are happening right now and much more quickly. The impacts of this on the economy, and therefore on the insurance business, can be devastating. Many of the risks that constitute the business nature and base, if nothing is done, will become uninsurable “.
Gastão Taveira, CEO of i2S, was one of the speakers at the “Os Seguros em Portugal” conference, in which he described the fundamental role of technology in the evolution of the insurance industry, stating that the connectivity between systems/technologies is the solution to increase agility and efficiency: “If you can do it well, you will have significant gains. It’s not just one technology, but the integration of various technologies,” he stated.Back
